Sauti Sol disappointing outing at MTV MAMA awards

Kenyan fans attributed their loss to the tyranny of numbers that saw Nigerian artistes emerge the night’s big winners taking home eight of the 17 awards.

Sauti Sol, Kenya’s favourite crooners once again failed to win the continent’s heart as they lost out at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) in South Africa. The group consisting of Polycarp Otieno, Savara Mudigi, Willis Austin Chimano and Bien-Aime Baraza had been nominated for the award of the best group but lost out to Nigeria twins P-Square who also won the Artistes of the decade award.

This comes on the heels their loss at the BET Awards where they had been nominated for the Best International Act last month. Their nomination for MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) Worldwide Act failed to translate into a win after their African Act triumph last year.
